Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are injected into the dermis in a grid of small deposits, rather than shaped into a contour the way a filler is. The aim is skin quality — hydration, elasticity and light reflection — not volume or projection.

The materials fall into a few classes. Hyaluronic acid binds water within the dermis. Bio-remodelling preparations use hyaluronic acid at a concentration and structure intended to spread through the tissue rather than stay where it is placed. Polynucleotides are studied for their role in supporting the skin's own repair processes.

Two of the preparations we use are our own combinations, mixed by the doctor for a specific purpose rather than bought as a single ready-made product. One is RP Signature Skin Booster; the other, RP Matrix Skin Booster, combines a 5ml collagen-matrix preparation with 1ml of a second preparation. What each one contains, and whether a prescription component is involved, is set out by the doctor at your consultation rather than on a page.

Because the material is placed where it works rather than applied to the surface, results are more pronounced than topical or needle-free routes, and correspondingly involve small injection points.

• Polynucleotide preparations used in aesthetic medicine are commonly cited as having high homology with human DNA.

• One of our own preparations is a prescription formulation, mixed and injected by the doctor. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have a neuromuscular disorder — where any of that applies, we use a preparation without the prescription component.
• Small raised bumps at the injection points are normal on the day and usually settle within one to three days. Occasional pinpoint bruising can last a little longer.
• The course matters. A single session gives a limited and short-lived effect; most of these preparations are planned as four sessions about a month apart, then reviewed.
• Which preparation suits you depends on your skin, the area and your medical history — that is a decision made at consultation, not from a menu. Keeping several classes on hand means we are not obliged to fit you to the one product we happen to carry.
• Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or over areas with active skin infection.

We keep several classes rather than a single product line, because the right choice depends on whether the problem is hydration, laxity, repair or skin recovering from acne. The volumes and course lengths below are the usual structure; your own plan may differ.

• RP Signature Skin Booster — our own combination, mixed by the doctor rather than bought ready-made. It is a prescription formulation, so what it contains is explained to you at consultation. Commonly a course of 4.
• RP Matrix Skin Booster — our own combination of a 5ml collagen-matrix preparation with 1ml of a second preparation. Commonly a course of 4.
• Hyaluronic acid hydration boosters — 3ml delivered across three syringes in one session. Commonly a course of 2.
• Bio-remodelling hyaluronic acid — 2ml preparations that spread through the tissue rather than staying where they are placed, chosen according to whether the aim is hydration and elasticity or firmness. Commonly a course of 4.
• Polynucleotide preparations — used where the aim is repair rather than hydration alone. Volumes run from 1ml formats for areas that need a lighter placement, such as the eye area and skin recovering from acne, up to larger formats where more is indicated. Commonly a course of 4.
• Two-in-one combinations — poly-D,L-lactic acid paired with 1ml or 2ml of a second preparation in the same session. Commonly a course of 4.

No. Both may use hyaluronic acid, but a filler is a firmer gel placed to create structure or volume in a specific place. A skin booster is a fluid preparation spread through the dermis to change skin quality. They are used for different problems.

A skin booster will not lift, and it will not replace lost volume. If that is what you want changed, we will tell you a booster is the wrong treatment rather than sell you a course of it.

Your consultation will determine this. Skin type, medical history, medications and the changes you would like to see all affect which treatment is appropriate, and whether any treatment is suitable at all.

Every plan is assessed by our doctor. Treatments that require a doctor are performed by the doctor; treatments that may be delegated are performed by trained therapists under the doctor's direction. We will tell you which applies before you book.

Your first visit includes a consultation where the doctor examines your skin and determines if this treatment is suitable for you before proceeding with any procedures. You don’t need to book the consultation separately.

If you prefer to come in solely for an assessment, our consultation charge is $80. However, if you decide to proceed with treatment on the same day, this fee will be waived.

The doctor will examine your skin, take your medical history and give you a detailed account of your skin condition, which may differ from your initial expectations.

You leave with a written plan and the associated costs. If a treatment isn’t suitable for you, you’ll be informed of that instead.

There’s no same-day price or deadline attached to the plan. Prices don’t change based on when you decide.

The plan is yours to keep. If you’d like more time to consider or make comparisons, that’s perfectly fine. We respect every customer’s decisions.
