Chemical Peel

The acid weakens the adhesion between cells in the outermost layer. That layer sheds over the following days and is replaced by newer skin beneath.

Depth is controlled by the acid used, its concentration and how long it is left in contact with the skin. A superficial peel affects only the outer layer; deeper peels reach further and carry correspondingly more downtime and risk.

We work in the superficial range and build across sessions, rather than aiming for a single aggressive treatment.

• Flaking and dryness in the days afterwards are the expected result, not a reaction. Do not pick at peeling skin.
• Sun protection afterwards is essential — freshly exposed skin pigments easily.
• Peels can trigger pigmentation in darker skin types if pushed too hard. We assess skin type first and start conservatively.
• Tell us about retinoid use, recent waxing and any active skin conditions before treatment.

With the superficial peels we use, most people experience light flaking rather than dramatic shedding. Depth is a choice we make with you, weighed against how much downtime you can accept.

Underarm tone is assessed as its own item rather than added on to a facial peel. Which treatment is appropriate there is decided at assessment, because the skin and the cause of the darkening differ from person to person.

What is addressed in that area is darkening related to shaving, friction and past inflammation. Where the tone is simply your natural colouring, no treatment will change it, and we would rather say so before you book than afterwards.

Your consultation will determine this. Skin type, medical history, medications and the changes you would like to see all affect which treatment is appropriate, and whether any treatment is suitable at all.

Your first visit includes a consultation where the doctor examines your skin and determines if this treatment is suitable for you before proceeding with any procedures. You don’t need to book the consultation separately.

If you prefer to come in solely for an assessment, our consultation charge is $80. However, if you decide to proceed with treatment on the same day, this fee will be waived.

The doctor will examine your skin, take your medical history and give you a detailed account of your skin condition, which may differ from your initial expectations.

You leave with a written plan and the associated costs. If a treatment isn’t suitable for you, you’ll be informed of that instead.

There’s no same-day price or deadline attached to the plan. Prices don’t change based on when you decide.

The plan is yours to keep. If you’d like more time to consider or make comparisons, that’s perfectly fine. We respect every customer’s decisions.
