Tuina is a clinical manual therapy, planned by our physician to address specific muscle and joint concerns.
Pressing, kneading and mobilising techniques work along muscle chains and joints rather than wherever feels pleasant. The physician decides where to work and how firmly based on what is found, and pressure is adjusted to you throughout.
- Pressure
- Firm and specific, adjusted to you throughout
- What To Wear
- Loose, comfortable clothing; no oil is used
- Performed By
- Registered TCM physician or trained therapist under physician direction
- Often Combined With
- Cupping or gua sha, added where the tissue calls for it
- Frequency
- Acute issues closer together; maintenance spaced out
Intent. A spa massage aims at how the hour feels; tuina aims at how the joint or muscle chain works afterwards. Some of it is comfortable, some of it is work — and the physician can tell you why each part is being done.
Possibly, for a day or so, in the way worked muscle is sore. Tell the physician how you responded — the next session is adjusted accordingly.
That is the physician's call at consultation, and they are often combined. You do not need to arrive knowing the answer.
The physician tells you the recommended plan and its full cost after your consultation, before anything is done — you decide with the numbers in front of you.
There is no obligation to proceed on the day. Prices don't change based on when you decide.
No. You will hear what we found, what we recommend and what it costs — then the decision is yours, at your pace.
If you'd like more time to consider or make comparisons, that's perfectly fine. We respect every customer's decisions.
