RF microneedling causes less surface disruption than conventional resurfacing and is performed by our doctor.
Insulated microneedles carry radiofrequency to a set depth, so the skin receives two stimuli at once: the micro-channel and the heat.

Very fine needles pass through the surface and release radiofrequency energy at a set depth. The skin receives two stimuli at once: the micro-channel itself, which triggers the body's repair response, and the radiofrequency, which heats the surrounding dermis.
Because the energy is released below the surface rather than on it, the outer skin is disturbed far less than with treatments that work downwards from the surface.
The system can deliver energy in two modes. Pulsed-wave delivery is generally used where vascular and pigment concerns are involved; continuous-wave delivery is used where the aim is tightening and texture.
Needle depth, energy level and mode are chosen for your skin and adjusted as the session goes. At this clinic the doctor performs every session for that reason.
- Sylfirm X is cleared by the US FDA for radiofrequency microneedling. It delivers both pulsed-wave and continuous-wave energy from the same device.
- Needle depth is adjustable, so the same device can be set differently for thin skin around the eyes and thicker skin on the cheeks.
- This is one of the more uncomfortable treatments we offer even with numbing. We would rather you know that in advance than find out on the day.
- Expect redness and a warm, sunburn-like feeling for a day or two. Fine pinpoint marks can be visible for a short period.
- It is planned as a course of four, spaced around three weeks apart. One session is the start of the treatment rather than the treatment itself, and we would rather you decided with that in mind.
- Melasma can be unpredictable with any energy-based treatment. If you have it, we will discuss the risk of it worsening before recommending anything.
- Results build across a course rather than after one session.
Standard microneedling creates micro-channels and nothing else, and our therapists perform it under the doctor's direction. Radiofrequency microneedling also releases energy below the surface, so depth, energy level and delivery mode are being selected for your skin throughout the session. That judgement sits with the doctor, and the doctor performs it.
Your consultation will determine this. Skin type, medical history, medications and the changes you would like to see all affect which treatment is appropriate, and whether any treatment is suitable at all.
If a treatment isn't suitable for you, you'll be informed.
Every plan is assessed by our doctor. Treatments that require a doctor are performed by the doctor; treatments that may be delegated are performed by trained therapists under the doctor's direction. We will tell you which applies before you book.
Your first visit includes a consultation where the doctor examines your skin and determines if this treatment is suitable for you before proceeding with any procedures. You don’t need to book the consultation separately.
If you prefer to come in solely for an assessment, our consultation charge is $80. However, if you decide to proceed with treatment on the same day, this fee will be waived.
The doctor will examine your skin, take your medical history and give you a detailed account of your skin condition, which may differ from your initial expectations.
You leave with a written plan and the associated costs. If a treatment isn’t suitable for you, you’ll be informed of that instead.
There’s no same-day price or deadline attached to the plan. Prices don’t change based on when you decide.
The plan is yours to keep. If you’d like more time to consider or make comparisons, that’s perfectly fine. We respect every customer’s decisions.
