Collagen-Stimulating Fillers

These preparations use materials such as poly-L-lactic acid or polycaprolactone. Rather than occupying space themselves, they provoke a controlled response in which fibroblasts lay down new collagen around the particles.

The material itself is gradually broken down and absorbed. What remains is the collagen your own body has produced, which is why the effect appears slowly and can persist longer than a gel filler.

Because the change is generated rather than placed, this class is generally used for overall firmness and skin quality across a region, rather than for a precisely shaped contour.

Two other injectables are often discussed alongside these, and they do not work this way. A collagen implant for the eye area places collagen material directly, so it does not depend on your own tissue responding. A polynucleotide preparation for body skin works by supporting the skin's own repair processes, and is not planned as one of the particle-based collagen stimulators described above, nor as a filler.

• This is the slowest of the injectable options to show results. If you want a visible change this week, this is not the right treatment and we will tell you so.
• Poly-L-lactic acid and polycaprolactone cannot be dissolved with an enzyme the way hyaluronic acid can. That raises the bar for careful assessment and conservative dosing.
• The eye-area collagen implant and the body polynucleotide are different materials again, each with its own handling and limits — your doctor will tell you what applies to the one chosen for you.
• Post-treatment massage of the area is required with some preparations, and we will show you exactly what to do.
• Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with active infection at the site.

A hyaluronic acid filler occupies space immediately and can be dissolved. A collagen-stimulating filler works by prompting your own tissue to rebuild over months, and cannot be dissolved.

They are often complementary rather than alternatives — one restores a specific contour, the other improves the foundation across a region.

No, and the naming causes confusion. The eye-area option is a collagen implant: it places collagen material into thin skin directly, and what you see is the material rather than a response your body has produced. A collagen stimulator places no collagen at all — it prompts your fibroblasts to make it.

The practical difference is timing and reversal. An implant behaves like a placed material from the day it goes in; a stimulator is judged over two to three months. We keep them separate on this page for that reason.

If you prefer to come in solely for an assessment, our consultation charge is $80. However, if you decide to proceed with treatment on the same day, this fee will be waived.

You leave with a written plan and the associated costs. If a treatment isn’t suitable for you, you’ll be informed of that instead.
