HIFU Price in Singapore: The Shot Count Is the Number That Matters

High-intensity focused ultrasound is one of the treatments where two quotes for "full face HIFU" can differ by a factor of four. Unlike most aesthetic treatments, the reason is unusually concrete: HIFU is really sold by the shot.

What a "shot" is

The device delivers energy in lines. Each line is a row of focal points deposited at a set depth. A treatment is measured in how many of those lines are delivered — commonly quoted as shots or lines. Three hundred shots and eight hundred shots across the same face are different treatments, and the consumable cartridge is a genuine cost that scales with them.

So "full face" tells you the area. It does not tell you the density. Ask for the shot count.

Why depth matters too

Cartridges deliver energy at different depths — commonly around 1.5mm, 3.0mm and 4.5mm. The deepest reaches the fibrous support layer beneath the skin; shallower depths address the dermis. A treatment plan that uses several depths across different areas of the face uses several cartridges, and costs accordingly.

A single-depth, single-cartridge session is cheaper. Whether it is appropriate depends on your face, not on the price list.

Generation of the device

Newer HIFU systems deliver energy in shorter micro-pulses, which changes how the sensation is tolerated and how the energy is distributed. This is a real technical difference and it shows up in price. It is also, unhelpfully, the thing most often obscured by marketing — the honest question to ask is simply which machine, and at what settings.

Add-on areas

Neck, under-chin and eye area are typically quoted separately from the face. A face-only quote and a face-and-neck quote are not comparable, and the neck is often where people most want the effect.

Why very low HIFU quotes exist

Usually a low shot count, a single depth, or a promotional first-session rate. Sometimes it is a different technology being described loosely as HIFU. None of that is necessarily wrong — but it is worth knowing which one you are buying.

What the session actually feels like

Brief warmth or a prickling sensation as each line is delivered, strongest over bony areas. Most people describe it as tolerable rather than painless, and settings are adjusted to what you can take. Anyone describing HIFU as comfortable is describing a low-energy treatment.

There is no wound afterwards, because the energy is focused below the surface rather than applied to it. Mild redness or tenderness for a few hours is common; some people notice slight swelling for a day or two.

Questions that make quotes comparable

• How many shots, and across which areas?
• Which cartridge depths are being used?
• Is the neck or under-chin included, or quoted separately?
• Which device, and which generation?

What HIFU will not do at any price

It tightens; it does not remove skin. Where there is significant skin excess along the jaw or neck, no number of shots substitutes for a surgical procedure. A clinic that tells you otherwise is selling you a course with a predictable ending.

Results also build over roughly two to three months as collagen forms, and are maintained with sessions a few times a year. It is a maintenance treatment, and the honest way to think about the cost is annually rather than per visit.
